The storm that closed many roads in the Rocky Mountain states yesterday has moved off to the North and East. Very strong winds will be the norm today from the Dakotas to New York state and as far south as far northern Kentucky and as far north as Toronto. The Chicago region is expected to have sustained winds of 30-35 MPH with gusts to over 50 MPH today and tonight. The winds are expected to remain in this area over the next 24-48 hours as the system moves off to the northeast.
Wyoming has opened all road that were shut down due to yesterday’s blizzard but has the “No Light Trailer” advisory in place. This does not ban light trailers but makes them difficult to control as winds along the eastern I-80 corridor may be seeing gusts up to 50 MPH and higher.
Colorado has reopened all roads that were closed from the blizzard and there are no chain laws in place.
Thick fog will be present in the northern half of Florida until near the noon hour.
