Driver Edits for LOGS/HOS Instructions and Video

Drivers, please find below documentation and a training video on how to edit logs.

DRIVER & CARRIER EDITS

​
  • Every 24 hours you must review and certify your logs.
  • When you initially sign into the ELD, you cannot edit or certify logs until your machine updates. You will see a red message at the top of your status screen that says, “Log update in progress, these are not your current logs. Editing and approving are disabled.”
  • The HOS Application is synching with the server. You must wait until you see a message that says “You need to review and approve your logs”.
  • Remember, you cannot edit drive time, but you can edit any other status.

  • Once your logs update, if you see you have carrier edits, you will need to review and approve them. ​

  • You can either REJECT or CONFIRM the edits.
  • If you confirm the edits, you will see green checkmarks by your status’ for that day.

  • If you reject the edits, you will have to enter a reason for rejecting.

  • Both certified and un-certified status’ are available for review on the CERTIFY tab. ​

  • If you are certifying logs without being prompted, click on the Hours of Service/VIR option on the Home Screen.
  • Click on the CERTIFY tab.

  • You can then click on the arrows in the top righthand corner to scroll to specific dates.

  • A check mark indicates a certified record.
  • A red exclamation indicates there was a sensor or system failure when the log was recorded.

  • If record is incorrect, tap the record, highlight it, and click “EDIT”

  • Select the new duty status and a predefined remark as to why the edit is being made.
  • Close the keyboard and tap “NEXT”

  • If you need to make more than one edit and you need to split the time:
  • You will select the duty status that is an error. Click on the “EDIT” button. Then click on “SPLIT” in the top right hand corner of the screen. ​

  • The duty status will be split in half and both sections will have the same status and location.
  • Select the correct status, time, and location for the duty status that needs to be corrected.

  • Add remarks to explain why the edit is being made. ​

  • When finished, tap “NEXT”

  • Type in reason for editing the status.

  • Click on “SAVE”

  • At this point you must make additional changes to the log, so tap on “NOT READY”
  • Then repeat the split instructions, add remarks, and tap “NEXT” then “SAVE”.
  • Now that your edits are complete and the status is updated, click on “CERTIFY”

  • Do a final review of this day’s logs.
  • If they are correct, tap “AGREE”
  • Once you agree, you will see a green check mark next to each status for the day.

  • If your carrier makes an edit to your logs, you will get a popup like the one above.
  • You must review and either REJECT or CONFIRM the proposed edits.

  • If you reject the edits, thy are no longer listed as pending and go back to what they were before the edits.
  • You must enter a reason for rejecting the edits.

  • If you accept the changes, you are prompted to certify the logs.

  • When you agree, the logs are updated for that day and the changes can be seen in the back office at the carrier. ​
